Emergency Preparedness Committee (EPC)

Several dozen Paradise Ranch Estate homes were lost in the 1995 Vision Fire.  Given this history and factors that make our area at high risk for repeat fires, as well as devastating storms and earthquakes, we need to be prepared for natural disasters.  The IRA Board has formed an EPC, led by the Area Coordinator (AC), to help prepare residents of Paradise Ranch Estates for emergencies.  The EPC meets regularly and is composed of Neighborhood Leads (NLs), who receive training on the use of VHF radios in the event of standard telecommunication breakdown.  NLs each have a group of neighbors assigned to them and serve as a liaison between those neighbors and the AC, who in turn is a liaison between the NLs and the area disaster councils (i.e. Point Reyes Disaster Council, West Marin Disaster Council) to share the needs of our community and information from emergency responders.

Firewise Committee

Paradise Ranch Estates is recognized as a Firewise Community by Firewise USA. Our membership is updated each year in the fall and the certificate can be found on the Inverness Ridge Association website.  Some insurance carriers will provide discounts to property owners in FireWise communities if the certificate is provided.  The Inverness Ridge Association Board has a Firewise committer.  Members of the Firewise Committee participate in the monthly Firewise Leaders meeting convened by Fire Safe Marin, the county wide educational organization funded by Marin Wildfire.  The Firewise Committee provides information to the residents of Paradise Ranch Estates on all matters related to living with Wildfire including home hardening, defensible space, insurance, evacuation and the county wide efforts led by Marin Wildfire such as Chipper Days, Evacuation Route Clearing, and Shaded Fuel Breaks.
